Who's that man behind the pulpit?

Well, as the year 2004 draws to an end, let me say something about someone I am very very proud of. Actually I wanted to share this within my church network very much after one of the prayer shield for senior pastor. I was overwhelmed then by how much this one man has done. I am so proud of him, to have him as my senior pastor.

Yes, that man's name is Apostle Lawrence Khong. Let me share that when I first heard that he was given the title Apostle, there were a lot of rumours, unhappiness, unacceptance. I guess you may find me in that crowd of confused people, too, wondering why he took up that title as an apostle. Isn't it unbiblical? But I guess I was the one who was untaught. Being appointed as an apostle is still rather relevant and biblical, and Ps Lawrence Khong's role in his ministry really fit into that of apostleship. And being given the title Apostle is no joke, or not for fame either. It means more work, more responsibility. And I know my pastor loves, and takes after Apostle Paul very much, and to that, I can see that it is not an easy life.

And yes, I am proud of this man. Proud of what he stakes out his life for, how he lives out his life. It is utterly amazing, I tell you, and it truly speaks of an amazing God in his life. He stands out, and does things that no one else would do. I remember he once said that he would lead the way, and he would be the first to do it before the church would go in that direction. And true to his words, I see him going to places like Thailand, China and Japan. Next year, our mission teams will be venturing into these places and more. I am so amazed by the will of this man, even more so by the Will of God that drives him.

And yes, I am proud of his ministry in the entertainment world. It is high time that someone does something in there, to win that world back for Christ. If you look into the media these days, you see many debilitating shows that have a hint of violence and sex. Even cartoons are no better, and some even not suitable material for children to watch. What are we trying to teach the younger generation? By saying this, I'm not vouching that we don't watch TV. If you can do that, then good for you. I still watch TV, I still watch chinese drama series, and I still go to the cinema to catch movies. What I am saying is this, it's time to introduce entertainment material of higher and better value into the society. Not just to bag in more money.

And yes, I love my senior pastor, and I look up to him as my spiritual grandpapa. May God continue to bless him and his family with much more in the coming new year 2005!

My life for Christ

Yes, this blog is alive again! Finally, I decided that a sermon preached without any life examples in it, well, those sermons are just dead. That's why my pastors' sermons are so powerful; they share their life stories in them! SO that's just what I'm going to do. Enjoy reading and may the Word speak to you as well! ;)
